Matt holds a PhD in materials science and is both a chartered chemist and chartered scientist. He is an experienced battery scientist, and prior to joining Benchmark he has worked across various roles in the battery sector, leading teams and programmes to develop technologies such as silicon anode materials, LFP, LMFP, NMC cathode materials, and lithium-ion cells.

At Benchmark he leads the New Technology team, focused on covering emerging areas such as solid state and lithium metal batteries, silicon anode, sodium ion batteries, and recycling.
