Matt Aks is a Vice President with Evercore ISI, where he covers global public policy with an emphasis on energy transition, fiscal policy, trade, and geopolitics. Matt previously served as a Senior Policy Advisor at the U.S. Treasury Department Climate Hub (2021-24), where he was deeply involved in implementation of the landmark clean energy tax incentives in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). He was part of the team that received Treasury’s Salmon P. Chase Award for work to implement the IRA during the first year following enactment and was also recognized with the Distinguished Service Award. During the Obama Administration, Matt served on the staff of the White House Council of Economic Advisers (2011-15) and National Security Council (2015-16). Outside of government, Matt’s prior experience includes working as a management consultant with Oliver Wyman and as a fellow with the World Economic Forum, where he helped launched the Forum’s initiative on Financing the Transition to a Net Zero Future. He holds a B.A. in economics from Brown University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. He is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
