Emad Alaydi is a strategy and technology leader, with a strong background in the stationary Energy Storage and renewable energy sector. Emad leads the Energy Storage Business at Calpine Corp, one of America’s largest generators of electricity and a leading grid Energy Storage developer and operator.



Emad has a track record in developing and implementing some of the early and most unique battery storage projects in North America. Notably, he led the Ozone Park ESS in NYC for ConEdison which is the first ever battery storage project to obtain FDNY permit. Also led the ECLRT ESS project in Toronto, one of the first and largest battery storage systems to provide emergency backup for a public transportation Light Rail Train system. Currently with Calpine Emad is leading the deployment of the Nova project, one of the largest battery storage projects in the world.



Throughout his career, Emad has been responsible for driving technology assessment and procurement decisions. He works closely with battery OEMs to shape the next generation of stationary Energy Storage products by helping to define the market requirement and through his technical expertise.



Emad, a Professional Engineer, holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto with a minor in Engineering Business from Rotman School of Management.
