John Cerveny is a Senior Director for the New York Battery and Energy Storage Technology Consortium (NY-BEST) where he leads efforts to make connections between and among members, funding opportunities and the community at large. Cerveny serves as Program Manager for the Supply Chain Development program—part of the US Economic Development Administration-funded New Energy New York program. In this role, he leads a team focused on growing and attracting battery and energy storage system material, processing, manufacturing, system assembly, integration and relevant service providers across the State of New York. Cerveny previously held senior business development and government relations positions at a number of leading cleantech companies—including TechCity, New Energy Resources, Plug Power, GE MicroGen, MTI MicroFuel Cells and Lilliputian Systems—where he led efforts that resulted in the creation of hundreds of jobs, successful commercialization of new technologies and adoption of regulations to pave the way for market acceptance of new products.
He was educated at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he earned a B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering and an MBA from the Lally School of Business. He is an active supporter of numerous environmental organizations and recently served as the President of the Adirondack Folk School board of directors in Lake Luzerne, NY.
