Mongolian Minerals specializes in fluorspar, the main source of fluorine for the chemical industry. Fluorine is used extensive in lithium batteries, from the electrolyte (lithium hexafluorophosphate) to the polymer binders and separators (PVDF and PTFE) and as hydrofluoric acid in natural graphite refining. The company’s largest mineral licence has measured and indicated resources of 1.15 million tons of fluorspar on a 100% basis (JORC/43-101).
