Darias is a member of the Government & International Relations team at Anglo American, a global diversified mining company listed on the London and Johannesburg stock exchanges. He works from the group head office in London on business activities across Greenland, North America and South America. In his previous roles in the company he supported Anglo American’s regional renewable energy ecosystem in Southern Africa through strategic advice and policy analysis. Furthermore, he conducts political risk and scenario analysis for various functions across the group. Darias joined Anglo American from Eurasia Group, an international political risk advisory firm, where he was the director for Southern Africa. He spent most of his career in the South African foreign service, focusing on bilateral political relations with key international partners like Japan, China and the United States which included a diplomatic posting to the Embassy of South Africa in Washington, DC. His qualifications include a masters degree in Futures Studies, an honours degree in international relations and an undergraduate degree in politics, philosophy and economics: all from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa.
