Rory Townsend is the Head of Battery Metals Analysis for Trafigura, a leading commodities group. He is helping to shape the company’s views on metals and minerals markets and the economic outlook, with a particular focus on battery metals.

Prior to joining Trafigura in 2023, Rory worked for BMO Capital Markets as Vice President of Commodity Research and held multiple research positions at Wood Mackenzie across base and precious metals.

Rory has over a decade of experience covering commodity markets, where he has produced market intelligence and price forecasts across base metals, battery raw materials, bulk commodities, and precious metals. Rory holds a B.Sc. degree in Economics from the University of Bath.
