Michael joined HSBC in August 2022 as Managing Director, Global Head of Metals, Mining & Transition Materials with responsibility for HSBC’s $50bn + in capital committed to the sector through over 1000 counterparties and maximising its Investment Banking capability in the sector. Prior to joining HSBC, he spent 22 years at J.P.Morgan, where he worked across investment banking and equity research in a variety of roles before being appointed Head of Metals & Mining, Asia-Pacific for J.P.Morgan. He also spent 3 years as Co-head of Metals and Mining for Asia-Pacific at Standard Chartered Bank.
He has 27 years’ experience in Resources and Diversified Industries sectors, including 8 years as an equity research analyst and has lived and worked in Australia, Japan, China, Hong Kong and Singapore.
He has led some of the most transformational end-to-end cross-border transactions in the sector and specialises in strategic advisory assignments with deep global experience in equity, debt, capital markets and M&A disciplines.
