For well over a decade, Mike Blakeney has been advising governments, regulators and policymakers globally on sustainability and energy topics, particularly around the interface with mining and metals.

Mike joined the Cobalt Institute in 2020, the global trade assiciation for the cobalt industry, and leads its global outreach with policy decision-makers.

Prior to this, Mike worked as a public affairs consultant for many of the world’s largest companies, including mining giants like of Anglo American and Rio Tinto, for major international blue chip brands, some of the world’s largest financial services companies, and other large industrial clients.
