Mr. Hiro Rodriguez currently serves as the Executive Director of the Advocacy Center at the United States Department of Commerce.
In this capacity, he leads a government-wide initiative to support American companies competing for foreign government procurement opportunities. Mr. Rodriguez works closely with U.S. embassies, interagency partners, and international counterparts to strengthen commercial diplomacy, enhance bilateral and multilateral trade relationships, and promote high-impact economic growth through strategic U.S. exports.
Prior to his appointment at the Department of Commerce, Mr. Rodriguez was the Chief Business Officer at the Krach Institute for Tech Diplomacy at Purdue University, where he led global engagement efforts to advance trusted technology partnerships and reinforce democratic values in critical technology supply chains. He previously served as Chief Revenue Officer at Prefect Technologies, where he oversaw commercial operations and guided the company’s growth from early-stage startup to a multi-million-dollar enterprise.
Mr. Rodriguez also served as Chief Business Officer and Senior Advisor to the Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment at the U.S. Department of State. In that role, he was instrumental in shaping strategic economic initiatives and led an interagency task force responsible for the largest emergency airlift of medical supplies in U.S. history—delivering essential goods through over 180 flights conducted in coordination with private industry and global partners.
Prior to his federal service, Mr. Rodriguez worked across the Silicon Valley tech sector, including at Salesforce, before serving as Chief of Staff to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DocuSign. In that role, he helped drive global expansion, forge strategic partnerships, and support the company’s successful IPO—contributing to its transformation into a $40 billion publicly traded leader in digital agreements.
Mr. Rodriguez holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the University of San Diego. He resides in the Washington, D.C. area with his wife and three children.
