Alfredo “Fred” Fierro has been part of the Buenos Aires based British Embassy Commercial team since 1994 specialising in the Aerospace, Automotive, Creative, ICT and Mining industries. In March 2019, Fred became the first non British Director of Trade in a G20 country.

He was awarded an MBE by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in her birthday honours list of 2020.

Fred's academic background and work experience are in international marketing with a degree in Business Administration from the Catholic University in Buenos Aires and a Postgraduate Degree from the Open University. Before joining the DBT team, he worked in exports and international marketing for large Argentine groups.

Starting in 2015, Fred also teaches Business Strategies in Latin America and Emerging Economies to US exchange students under the IES Programme as well as, since 2020, a course on International Negotiations at the Catholic University of La Paz, Bolivia.

Fred is also a linguist with good command of Spanish, French, English, Italian, and Portuguese as well as some German. He enjoys cooking and is an amateur writer of short stories. The list of hobbies include football, polo and rugby, all as an spectator!
