Phil Lienert is External Affairs and Government Relations Manager at LG Energy Solution. He believes in the transformative capabilities of lithium-ion batteries across a range of applications, from transportation to energy storage systems and beyond. He’s based at the company’s North American headquarters in suburban Detroit.
Throughout his career, he’s worked in agency roles supporting Hyundai Motor America, Goodyear, J.P. Morgan Chase, Michelin, McLaren Automotive and Liberty Mutual insurance. He also spent 13 years cumulatively inside Nissan and General Motors – at the latter company, he ran communications for advanced driver assistance systems, autonomous vehicles, battery electric transportation technology, EV motors and drive units, GM Ventures and Research & Development. He collaborated daily with and closely advised many of the company’s technology leaders, including its Chief Technical Officer, chief electrochemist and the heads of its battery cell engineering.
In his current role at LG Energy Solution, he leads all communications for the company in North America and supports its overall public policy endeavors and many other strategic initiatives.
He holds a B.A. in History from Fordham University.
