Giga Africa 2025
We are pleased to announce that Giga Africa 2025 will offer an opportunity to attend one of two organised site visits on Wednesday 24th September, offering a chance to enhance your networking.
Option One - Managem Site Visit

This visit will take you to Managem’s new refinery near Marrakech, scheduled to open in October 2025, with an annual capacity of 5,000–6,000 tonnes of battery-grade cobalt sulfate for EV batteries. The feedstock comes from Bou Azzer – the world’s only primary cobalt mine – with the project focusing on producing high-purity cobalt sulfate for the EV industry.
The trip will also include a tour of the Reminex Research & Development Centre, Managem’s engineering hub, which develops mining and refining processes and works in partnership with Glencore on battery recycling.

Option Two - OCP Site Visit
Registration Closes: 10:00 GMT, Friday 12th September
Exploring Innovation and Sustainability at UM6P
As part of the Giga Africa program, this visit will take participants to Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) to explore its innovation-driven campus and cutting-edge research infrastructure.
The tour will include a focus on the Materials Science & Nanoengineering (MSN) department, which conducts advanced research on materials critical to battery technologies and energy storage solutions. Participants will also visit the Green Energy Park, UM6P’s flagship platform dedicated to applied research and industrial collaboration in renewable energies, hydrogen, and sustainable mobility.
This visit will offer valuable insights into how UM6P is contributing to the development of a competitive and integrated battery value chain while driving Africa’s green industrial transformation.
